Outfit Diaries | University Wardrobe Essentials

Hey my lovelies, hope you are all keeping well, in light of recent events I want to keep this space as COVID free as possible and create lots of fun and exciting content for you all. So to kick start that, today we have the University Files meets Outfit Diaries in a '5 University Wardrobe Essentials' blog post!

University might not be happening face-to-face and we may be entering another lockdown, but we've still got to have cute outfits right? Sometimes, getting up, doing our skincare and make-up and putting on a nice outfit can make us feel 10 times better, which is something I think we all could use a little more of right now.

My aim with this post is to provide you with 5 essential items for your University wardrobe, which will serve you well whatever the occasion. These clothing items will be more aimed towards University itself, lectures, studying etc. rather than nights out, as at the minute these just aren't happening (if this is something you would like to see when the time is right then let me know in the comments below?). A new outfit reel has also gone live on my Instagram to accompany this post, so I would really love it if you could go over there (@faithtrustandlotsofbooks) and give it some love as it's a bit different for me and I was super nervous to post it! So here we go my lovelies, make sure you've got your cups of coffee and biscuits, and lets get into today's blog post:

✨ Cosy Sweatshirt - Personally, a cosy sweatshirt is a staple for any time of year and any occasion. If you saw my Outfit Diaries | Staycation Edition post then you'll know that this vintage sweatshirt is a favourite of mine. Especially for University, sweatshirts are so versatile, whether that's studying in the library/study centre, sitting through your online lectures, or running to the supermarket for your study snack essentials. I've styled this one with a black roll-neck jumper underneath and some new wide-leg jeans which I am loving at the minute. I was struggling to style them but partnered with this sweatshirt I love the vibe they're giving. You can partner a sweatshirt with anything from leggings to joggers to jeans, they really are an absolute staple.

✨ Comfy Joggers - Now I won't lie, I was never a joggers type of girl until I went to Uni and discovered the necessity of comfy bottoms and how versatile they can be. With Universities being predominantly online at the minute, if you have to turn your zoom or Microsoft teams camera on then it's only your top half, so why not stay comfy on the bottom with a pair of joggers? The ones in this photo are my absolute favourites from Boohoo. They're a nice 90's oversized-style with a drawstring waist so they can be quite flattering. I've paired them with a hoodie from Sisters and Seekers for the purpose of this post, but I do love wearing them with bodysuits and cardigans which also make a great at-home studying combo.

✨ Blazer -
Another staple that I have discovered in the last 12 months and now I can't live without. My growing blazer collection is actually becoming quite a problem for both my wardrobe and bank balance. For me, blazers can be worn in so many different ways, whether you're popping out or need to dress them up for University presentations and interviews. I've partnered my favourite, camel blazer, which is from River Island, with another black roll-neck (absolute staple), my black pleather trousers and my new chunky boots from Asos which I am LOVING this Autumn! If you have any important online presentations or interviews coming up, then I definitely recommend sticking on a blazer to make yourself look a little more put-together and professional (you can always have some joggers on the bottom, whose going to know?).

✨ Comfortable Jeans -
Now, I don't think jeans are anybody's preferred choice of trouser, however, if you invest in a comfortable pair then they can be just as comfortable as joggers or leggings. For me, the way forward here is a nice pair of Mom jeans. Throughout the colder months, I get so much wear out of these jeans with my jumpers and coats, and they're super comfortable so what is not to love? Also, during these times, it might do some good to switch up our outfits some days instead of constantly wearing loungewear,  even if it is just to sit at home. I've paired my ones with a black roll-neck (new drinking game: shot every time I mention black roll-necks in this post), chunky white trainers and a nice, cosy teddy coat.

✨ Good Array of Knitwear - It's not my favourite season until it's knitwear season... I actually have a slight problem with the amount of jumpers I own. For me, a good black, beige and white jumper will see you through the colder months easily. These can be in any shape or style, whichever you prefer, and can be partnered with anything from leggings to jeans to leather trousers. I've paired my favourite oversized black jumper with my new shacket from Boohoo, which is my new favourite thing in my wardrobe at the moment. I've then paired those with a some leather leggings and my new favourite Asos boots.

So there we go my loves, my top 5 essential items which I think every University student needs in their wardrobe.
